Versace for H&M Show Stoppers

It was a veritable feast of fashion when Donatella Versace dipped into the archives of her brother Gianni Versace to develop the Versace line for H&M, launched on Tuesday evening. Affordable luxury indeed. And plenty of the old guard of supermodels turned up wearing vintage Versace. Those signature buttons. Those detachable straps. The black and the bright dramatic pops of colour. See Linda Evangelista's leather jacket and free-standing tie. See Helena Christensen's classic 80s shift. And Sofia Coppola's too. And Jessica Alba's modern take on the theme.
The requisite crazy was in place. The spangle and the shimmer. The new girls on the block in the latest versions. Blake Lively with boobs out but jacket on. Emma Roberts in head to toe floral. Selma Blair in a punch of pink. And Zoe Kravitz in white but with the dotty tights. Somehow it is fashion perfection. And a wonderful testament to the heart and soul of Versace. How extraordinary that it should come in the form of an affordable line for high street retailer H&M.
Of course not everyone who attended was a girl child. There was some crazy from the boys too. And despite the ridiculousness of it all, it was awesome. Don't you think? Mark Ronson in classic full length pink. Gianni would have loved it. You can always count on Alan Cumming to bring the full wackiness in his weirdly stylish zebra outfit. And Hamish Bowles. Well, if Hamish burped it would be stylish frankly. And he of all people knows how to do Versace-style. What a night.
